Kalaripayattu is an ancient Martial Art from India and is considered as a forerunner of Kung-fu and Karate. In Kalari-payattu, Kalari is the temple of learning where a student can learn the ancient traditions. This form of temple learning is also known as the Gurukkal system and it emphasizes on physical training and self-discipline. Kalaripayattu uses various weapons like the dagger, sword spear, sticks and a shield for fighting. In this Martial art, the maximum importance is given to the co-ordination of mind and body.
