Naginata is a Martial art practiced by men, women, and children. It originated in Japan almost one thousand years back. This Martial art uses a spear called the Naginata with an oval shaft as a weapon. This Naginata was used mostly by Buddhist monks and blade of the spear varies from 10 inches to 2 feet. This lethal weapon is the mainstay of this Martial art and is used in a sweeping motion to destroy the opponent. Naginata practice is said to build stamina, create patience, focus and self confidence and the technique uses gracious movements.
